AUBURNDALE, Fla.-- The Wartburg baseball team (3-1 overall) won its second-straight game on its spring break trip Monday in the 4-1 win over Rhodes (9-7).
The game was scoreless until the third when the Lynx scored on an RBI single. The Knights took the 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI groundout and single.
The Orange and Black extended their margin with an additional run in the eighth and ninth innings, as they capitalized on fielding errors.
Senior David Fitzgerald (Dubuque), Zach Hovick (Roland), Cody Hyler (Des Moines) and Eric Willis (Waverly) all went 1-4.
Freshman Dylan Gotto (Peosta) recorded his first collegiate win on the mound with his seven complete innings of work with six strikeouts. Senior Austin Bohling (Letts) earned his first save of the season as Rhodes was sent down in order in his two innings or work.
Wartburg returns to the field tomorrow to continue its break trip.
