WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 13 Wartburg football team (1-0 overall) moved to 11-0 in night home openers in the Walston-Hoover Stadium era (since 2001) with its 73-13 win over Greenville (0-1) Saturday night.

On their first drive of the game, senior Matt Sacia (Eldridge) found junior Denison Harrington (Cedar Falls) for a 36-yard touchdown pass. With that TD, Sacia moved into sole possession of second on the program's career leader list with 60.
Many players had their first career touchdowns tonight: juniors Connor Bailey (Knoxville), Mason Carter (North Liberty), Kolin Schulte (Anamosa), sophomore Bennett Goettsch (Iowa Valley), Devon Lund (Denver), and freshman Riley Pfiffner (Atkins).
Bailey led all players with a career-high 116 rushing yards, and first 100 yard game of his career.
Sacia finished with 155 passing yards for two TDs. He has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 20-straight games and in 22 of his last 23, which dates back to the 2016 season. Sacia's top targe was Harrington who had five receptions for 87 yards and one TD.
Freshman Antonio Santillan (Davenport) led the defense with seven tackles. Senior Marcus Johnson (Huxley) had a team-best 1.5 TFLs.
Sophomore JoJo McNair (Joliet, Ill.) and junior Tyler Biting (Keokuk) each had an interception. Freshman Kain Eagle (Denver) made his first collegiate field goal on the night.
Defensively, the Knights held the Panthers to just 32 yards rushing in the game. Greenville's preseason D3Football.com third-team All-American tight end,
Gregoire Franchomme, was held to two receptions for 32 yards, all in the second half.
