Wartburg Hosts Buena Vista in Conference Opener

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (1-1 overall) hosts Buena Vista (1-1) Saturday at 1 p.m. for the American Rivers Conference opener. The Iowa Conference underwent a name change in mid-August. Click here for more information.

The Series
Wartburg owns the all-time series lead at 47-29-3, which includes the last eight match-ups. The programs have met every year since 1936, excluding 1943-45.

Senior quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) has thrown for 407 yards and three touchdowns. He has moved into the second spot on the career leader list in TD passes with 62.

Junior Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) leads the receivers with 163 yards on nine catches and one TD. Junior Denison Harrington (Cedar Falls) has 11 receptions for 117 yards and a TD.

Junior Connor Bailey (Knoxville) has a team-high 120 rushing yards and two TDs.

Senior Marcus Johnson (Huxley) leads the defense with 22 tackles and 2.5 TFLs.

Buena Vista
Quarterback Cole Miller has thrown for 665 yards for seven touchdowns. He is also the team's leading rusher with 57 yards.

Miller's top receiver is Eric Pacheco who has 13 catches for 439 yards and five TDs.

Reed Kruse leads the defense with 27 tackles; Colby Laughlin follows with 22.
