Knights Fall to 1-4 on Season After Loss to Washington University

Brandon Lindholm

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Wartburg Knights fell short of the Washington University Bears 2-0 in a non-conference contest on Friday night.

The Bears took an early 1-0 lead on a Ryan Sproule goal coming off an assist from Aidan Ryan. The Knights would attempt to find the goal by taking three shots in the first period but couldn't't find the net and took the 1-0 deficit into the half.

The score would stay the same throughout the majority of the second half, but the Knights would fail to get on the board. At the 80:40-minute mark, the Bears would add to their lead to make the score 2-0 on an Aidan Ryan goal that was scored from weaving through four defenders.

The Knights would not be able to close the gap, losing to the Bears 2-0 and dropping to 1-4 on the season. The Knights will be back in action this Sunday, as they face Westminster College at 1 p.m.
