Football Travels to Face Nebraska Wesleyan

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg football team (2-1 overall, 1-0 American Rivers) travels to face Nebraska Wesleyan (1-2, 0-1) Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Series
Wartburg owns the all-time series at 2-0 as the programs have only met in the last two seasons.

Senior quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) has thrown for 602 yards and four touchdowns.He has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 22-straight games and in 24 of his last 25, which dates back to the 2016 season.

Junior Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) leads the receivers with 187 yards on 10 catches and one TD. Junior Denison Harrington (Cedar Falls) has 14 receptions for 165 yards and 2 TDs.

Junior Connor Bailey (Knoxville) has a team-high 170 rushing yards and three TDs. Sophomore Bennett Goettsch (Marengo) has seven TDs on 32 carries for 157 yards.

Senior Marcus Johnson (Huxley) leads the defense with 28 tackles. Classmate Brady Heusinkvelt (Denver) and Dillon Rademaker (Greene) co-lead the team with 3.5 TFLs.

Sacia holds the second spot in TD passes with 63. He is fourth with 507 pass completions and 6,600 passing yards.

Senior Peyton Imhoff (Dubuque) is fourth with 31 pass break ups.

Nebraska Wesleyan
Shaka Taylor leads the team on the ground with 271 yards on 55 carries with three TDs. Quarterback Jonathan Curti has thrown for 708 yards, is 59-121-3 with four TDs.

Three receivers have triple-digit yards as James Skerjanec leads the group with 140 on 14 catches. Bradley Pelkey follows at 118 yards and Taylor has 103.

Jacob Garnas leads the defense with 30 total tackles.
