WAVERLY, Iowa-- Simpson was successful on its two-point conversion on its turn in overtime to win 37-36 Saturday. Wartburg had the ball first in the extra session and took the 36-29 lead as senior Matt Sacia (Eldridge) kept it himself across the goal line and freshman Kain Eagle (Denver) made the PAT.

After three incomplete passes on the Storm's turn in OT, quarterback Tanner Krueger connected with runningback Cam Bunting for the 25-yard score. Simpson ran a reverse and wide receiver Austin Hronich found Krueger before he ran out of bounds in the back of the endzone for the two-point play.



This was the first overtime game in the regular season since a similar story rang true (successful two-point conversion) against Luther on Nov. 5, 2016.

Sacia finished 25-31-1 for 275 yards and four TDs. He now stands third-best all-time in completions (553) and surpassed Gary Walljasper's 537 (1981-84) and also surpassed Walljasper in passing yards (7,205) with 7,213 to date. Sacia has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 24-straight games and in 26 of his last 27, which dates back to the 2016 season.

Junior Denison Harrington (Cedar Falls) had a team-high seven receptions as classmate Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) had another career day with 168 receiving yards.

Senior Dillon Rademaker (Greene) led the defense with nine tackles and had a career-high 4.5 TFLs.
