WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg men's basketball team (10-6 overall, 4-3 A-R-C) will play host to the University of Dubuque (11-5, 4-3) Saturday at 7 p.m. The Knights are currently sitting at fourth in American Rivers Conference standings, while the Spartans are third overall.

The Series
The Knights own the all-time series lead at 86-46, including winning four of the last five. The last time the two programs met, Dubuque came away with a 102-92 victory on Jan. 27, 2018. The last time Wartburg defeated Dubuque was on Nov. 29, 2017, in a 77-51 triumph of the Spartans.
Wartburg
The Knights are coming off of a 90-78 victory over Buena Vista on Wednesday. Senior guard
Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) leads the team and American Rivers Conference in scoring at 22.4 points/game. Senior guard
Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) is second on the team and ninth overall in the conference in scoring with 15.3 points/game, while sophomore guard
Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third on the team at 12 points/game. Sabus leads the team in rebounding (min. 10 games played) with 5.6 rebounds/game, a mark that stands eighth overall in the conference. Senior center
Josh Gehling (Dyersville) trails Sabus for the team lead by pulling in 5.2 rebounds/game. Sabus' 4.2 assists/game lead the team, while Smith Drahos' 2.3 steals/game lead the team and are second-best in the conference.

After scoring 33 points against Buena Vista, Sabus' career point total now stands at 1,392 points, good for ninth in program history. He trails eighth place by 14 points (1,406), seventh place by 17 points (1,409) and sixth place by 54 points (1,446). His 100 made free throws on the season are 28 short (128) of breaking into the top-10 in program history for made free throws in an individual season. His career made free throw total stands at 418 makes, placing him at third in program history. He trails second place by 32 (450) and first in program history by 106 (524) made free throws.
Kickbush's 56 made three-pointers on the season are two shy (58) of cracking the top-10 in program history for most made three-pointers in an individual season. His 221 career made three-pointers are second in program history, trailing first overall by two made treys (223).
Dubuque
The Spartans are coming off of 55-52 victory over Buena Vista University. Leading the team in scoring is senior guard Marcus McDaniel at 16.3 points/game. Three other Spartans hold double-digit scoring averages, as sophomore forward Michael Williams averages 12.6 points/game, junior forward Avery Butler averages 12.2 points/game and sophomore guard Peter Ragen averages 10.3 points/game. Williams leads the team and is third in the conference in rebounding at 7.1 rebounds/game, while Butler is second on the team and fourth in the conference at 6.5 rebounds/game.
The Spartans are coached by Robbie Siverding, who has coached Dubuque since the 2007-08 season. Over his time with the program, he has led Dubuque to two conference titles (2013, 2015) and one regular season conference title (2015-16). He is assisted by Jordan Townsend and David Pederson.
