Knights Take on Kohawks Monday Evening

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg men's basketball team (11-6 overall, 5-3 A-R-C) will hit the road to face the Coe College Kohawks (10-7, 4-4) on Monday evening. The Knights are third in the American Rivers Conference standings, while Coe is sitting at fifth.

The Series
The Orange and Black own the all-time series record at 42-26. The two programs met earlier this season on Dec. 1, with the Kohawks coming away with an 80-78 victory in the game's final seconds. The last time the Knights defeated the Kohawks was on Feb. 14, 2018, in a 72-69 winning affair.
 
Wartburg
The Knights are coming off of an 82-65 win over the University of Dubuque on Saturday. Senior guard Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) leads the team and conference in scoring at 22.7 points/game. Senior guard Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) is second on the team with 15.9 points/game, while sophomore guard Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third on the team at 11.8 points/game. Sabus' 5.5 rebounds/game leads the team (min. 10 games played), while senior center Josh Gehling (Dyersville)is second on the team with 5.3 rebounds/game.  The Orange and Black have earned a 3-4 record on the road.
 
Career Record Watch
After scoring 27 points against Dubuque, Sabus' career point total now stands at 1,419 points, good for seventh all-time in program history. He trails sixth overall by 27 points (1,446), fifth overall by 31 points (1,450) and fourth overall by 78 points (1,497). His career 424 made free throws rank third in program history, trailing second place by 26 made free throws (450) and first place by 100 made free throws (524).
 
Coe College
The Kohawks are coming off of an 84-78 victory over the Simpson College Storm on Saturday evening. The Kohawks have five players averaging double-digit points: Nolan Timp (18.8 points/game), Calvin Winker (13.8 points/game), Tommy Hook (12 points/game), Austin Roth (10.9 points/game), and Adam McDermott (10.5 points/game). Winker leads the team in rebounding at 7.3 rebounds/game, while Timp sits nearly a rebound shy at 6.4 rebounds/game.
 
Coe is coached by Bryan Martin, who is in his seventh season leading the Kohawks. He is assisted by Paxton Molinari, Mike Freeman, Christian Fahey and Kevin Bundy.
