Knights Host Central College In Pursuit of Fifth Straight Win

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Knights (13-6 overall, 7-3 A-R-C) host the Central College Dutch (7-11, 4-5) on Saturday, Jan. 25, with tipoff at 4 p.m. The Knights are third-overall in the American Rivers Conference standings, while Central sits at sixth.

The Series
The Orange and Black own the all-time series lead at 86-52. The two programs met previously this season, with the Knights coming away with a 102-85 victory. Wartburg has won the last four meetings between the two teams.
 
Wartburg
The Knights have won their past four games and are coming off of an 88-83 victory over No. 22 Loras College on Wednesday. Leading the team and conference in scoring is senior guard Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) at 21.6 points/game. Senior guard Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) is second on the team with 15.8 points/game, while sophomore guard Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third on the team with 12.1 points/game. Sabus' 5.6 rebounds/game lead the team and are ranked 10th in the conference, while senior center Josh Gehling (Dyersville) is second on the team by averaging 5.4 rebounds/game. Smith Drahos' 2.1 steals/game lead the team and are second in the conference.

Sabus' 1,444 career points are good for seventh all-time in program history. He trails sixth place by two points (1,446), fifth place by six points (1,450) and fourth place by 53 points (1,497). Kickbush's 1,013 career points rank 32nd in program history. He trails 31st place by eight points (1,022), 30th place by 20 points (1,033) and 29th place by 24 points (1,037).
 
Sabus' 431 career made free throws are third in program history. He trails second place, held by current assistant coach Jason Steege, by 19 free throws (450) and first place by 93 made free throws (524).             
 
Central
The Dutch are coming off of an 88-81 overtime loss to Coe College on Wednesday. Jaden Moody leads the team in scoring with 17.2 points/game, a mark that stands sixth in the conference. Jamel McKnight is second on the team with 13.8 points/game, while Seth Wood is third with 12.8 points/game. Wood leads the team and conference in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds/game.
 
Central is coached by Craig Douma, who had led the Dutch to two NCAA Division III tournament appearances. He is assisted by Obinna Agomo and Kent Henderson.

Kickbush is ninth in total three-point field goals made (66), tied for 17th in three-point field goal attempts (152), 20th in three-point field goals per game (3.47) and is 43rd in three-point field goal percentage (43.4%). Sabus is ninth in free throws made (113), 10th in free throw attempts (146), 18th in total points (411), tied for 30th in total field goals made (136), 32nd in points per game (21.6), 74th in field goal percentage (56.4%) and is tied for 79th in total assists (79). Smith Drahos is tied for 39th in total steals (40) and is ranked 76th in steals per game (2.11).
