Knights Hit the Road To Face Storm

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Knights (14-6 overall, 8-3 A-R-C) will hit the road to face the Simpson College Storm (11-7, 5-5) Thursday at 8 p.m. The Knights are in third place in the American Rivers Conference standings, while the Storm are tied for fourth place.

The Series
The Orange and Black own the series record at 92-39. Wartburg won the first meeting of the season, 92-81 on Nov. 28. The Knights have won the past three-straight, dating back to Feb. 2, 2018.
 
Wartburg
Wartburg is coming off of its fifth straight victory in a 93-81 triumph of Central College on Saturday. Senior guard Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) leads the team in scoring with 21.9 points/game, while senior guard Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) trails at 16 points/game. Sophomore guard Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third on the team with 12 points/game. Sabus leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 rebounds/game, while senior center Josh Gehling (Dyersville) trails at 5.3 rebounds/game.
 
Sabus leads the team in assists with 4.1 assists/game, while Smith Drahos leads the team in steals at 2 steals/game. Gehling owns a team-best .599 field goal percentage, while Sabus trails at .559. Kickbush leads the team in three-point field goal percentage at .440 (min. 20 attempts).   
 
Career Record Watch
After scoring 27 points in the victory over Central on Saturday, Sabus' career point scored total now sits at 1,471 and places him fifth in program history. He trails fourth place by 26 points, third place by 48 points and second place by 125 points. His 440 career made free throws rank third in program history, trailing second place by 10 and first place by 84.
 
Kickbush's 1,031 career points scored ranks 31st in program history. He trails 30th by two points, 29th by six points and 28th by 36 points.
 
Simpson
The Storm are coming off of a 75-62 victory over the University of Dubuque on Saturday. Leading the team in scoring is junior guard Conor Riordan at 19.6 points/game. Junior forward Kyle Wagner trails at 13.6 points/game, while junior forward Adam Relter is third at 12.7 points/game. Relter leads the team in rebounding at 7.3 rebounds/game, while senior guard John Barbee is second on the team at 4.4 rebounds/game.
 
Simpson is coached by Brad Bjorkgren. He is assisted by Brandon Stromer and Chris McMahon.
 
Against the Conference
Wartburg owns the fourth-best scoring offense in the conference (83.1), while also owning the conference's third-best scoring defense (74.7). The 8.4 point scoring margin is second-best in the A-R-C.
 
Sabus leads the conference in scoring at 21.9 points/game, while Kickbush is 11th at 16 points/game. Kickbush's 3.5 three-point field goals per game rank first in the A-R-C.
