WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Knights men's basketball team (8-5 overall, 2-2 A-R-C) will return to the confinements of home on Wednesday, Jan. 9 when they take on the Luther College Norse (6-6, 0-4) with tipoff at 8 p.m.

Wartburg
The Orange and Black are coming off a 102-85 victory over Central College on Jan. 5. Leading the Knights in scoring is senior guard
Jaran Sabus (Urbandale), whose 22.4 points per game are a career-high and lead the American Rivers Conference. Senior guard
Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) is second on the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game, while sophomore guard
Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third on the team with 11.8 points per game. Senior center
Josh Gehling (Dyersville) leads the team in rebounding (min. 10 games played) with 5.5 rebounds per game, while Sabus trails behind by pulling in 5.3 rebounds per game.
On the year, Wartburg has outscored their opponents 1,082 to 970, including 527 to 453 in the first half, in addition to outrebounding their opponents 467 to 423. The Knights boast the fourth-best offense in the American Rivers Conference (83.2 ppg).

Luther
The Norse are coming into Wednesday's matchup following an 89-81 loss to Buena Vista University on Jan. 5. Leading Luther in scoring is senior guard Jared Nicolaisen with 18.5 points per game, in addition to leading the team in rebounding at 5.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Gage Thompson is second on the squad in scoring by averaging 10.2 points per game, while junior guard James Kappus is third on the team with 9.4 points per game. Luther has outscored their opponents 953 to 950 this season, but has been out-rebounded 502 to 446.
Luther is coached by Mark Franzen, who is coaching in his 13
th season at Luther. Franzen, a 1994 graduate of Wartburg College, has led the Norse to two conference title appearances (2011, 2013), winning the 2011 conference title. Franzen is assisted by John Androus and Eric Karius.
