WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team remained undefeated during American Rivers Conference play with a 3-1 victory over Coe College Wednesday evening at Levick Arena.
The Knights (18-7, 6-0 A-R-C) and Kohawks (12-13, 3-2 A-R-C) traded wins in the first two sets prior to the home team sealing the match with third and fourth set triumphs.
Wartburg hit a match-best .444 in the third set, downing Coe 25-15 to gain a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame.
In the fourth set, four lead changes led to back and forth action before the Orange and Black pulled away. Leading 20-18, Wartburg tallied four consecutive points including two kills from
Lexi Groe to take a 24-18 lead to set up the match point, finished off by a kill from
Natalie Clayberg.
The Knights totaled 74 points, its most since the season opener versus No. 21 Hope. Wartburg also held a 12-4 block advantage and led 55-44 in kills.
Kylie Bildstein and
Jayme Willemssen shared the team-lead with 13 kills each.
Claire Marsh recorded a double-double with 25 assists and 14 digs, while
Katie Foster led with 24 digs.
