ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Wartburg volleyball team took down Bethel University in straight sets during a non-conference match Tuesday evening.
The Knights, now 20-7 overall, defeated the Royals 28-26, 25-21, 25-17 and hit .231 while forcing 24 Royal errors, limiting the home team to a .164 attacking percentage.
Wartburg tallied 13 blocks, its most in over a month, led by seven from
Dani Johnson.
Lindsey Spolidoro notched three of the Knights' seven service aces.
An exciting first set had six lead changes. Tied 24-24, a Bethel kill set up the match point for the Royals but the Knights answered with a
Kylie Bildstein kill and block from
Jayme Willemssen to regain the lead, forcing a Bethel timeout. Wartburg closed out the set with two points after a Royal kill to take a 1-0 lead.
The Knights hit over .200 in both sets two and three to earn the sweep.
Bildstein led the attack with nine kills, hitting .389.
Claire Marsh and
Sydney Rottinghaus picked up double-doubles in assists and digs.
