WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team swept Buena Vista University Tuesday evening at Levick Arena to finish the American Rivers Conference schedule 8-0, securing the regular season crown outright.
The Knights honored seniors
Paige Deppe,
Hanna Halverson, and
Alana Harms on senior night with the program's fifth consecutive regular season conference title and seventh in the last eight years.
Wartburg locks up the No. 1 seed for the A-R-C Tournament, receiving a first round bye to set up a semifinal matchup next Thursday, Nov. 7 versus the No. 4/5 seed at Levick Arena.
Wartburg hit .271 and limited the Beavers to a .087 attack percentage while leading 6-1 in blocks and serving up 10 aces - the second most this season.
Natalie Clayberg,
Katie Foster, and
Lindsey Spolidoro tallied three aces each.
The home team owned BVU throughout the first two frames, winning 25-15 and 25-12 while notching 25 kills and forcing 12 errors. After a 5-0 run to start the final set, Buena Vista didn't go down without a fight, trimming the Knights' lead to 17-16 with five-straight points. However, Wartburg was collected after a timeout and closed out the match on an 8-1 run.
Kylie Bildstein hit .538 with seven kills and three blocks. Clayberg led with nine kills, while
Claire Marsh led with 16 assists.
