WAVERLY - No. 13 Wartburg women's cross country compiled an average 6k time of 22:55 to finish second of 30 teams at the 2019 NCAA Central Region Championships Saturday on the campus of Wartburg College, qualifying for nationals with 59 team points.
No. 6 Carleton College took first with a pair of runners in the top-five. Loras' Kassie Rosenbum took first place with a time of 22 flat.
American Rivers Conference MVP
Carina Collet finished six seconds behind Rosenbum to take a runner-up finish. Wartburg finished ahead of ranked teams St. Thomas (#16) and St. Olaf (#24).
All seven Knights earned All-Region honors, placing inside the top-35. Collet was followed by freshman
Aubrie Fisher, who took fourth at 22:34.3.
Trinity Borland,
Cassidy Christopher,
Janelle Baeskens,
Riley Mayer, and
Moriah Morter also earned the laurels.
Wartburg next prepares for the NCAA Championships next Saturday, Nov. 23, hosted by Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. Last year, the Knights took fifth place.
