Men's Basketball travels to Fort Lauderdale for Cruzin' Classic

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg men's basketball team is headed to Fort Lauderdale to participate in the Cruzin' Classic held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center Dec. 18- Dec. 22. Eleven men's and ten women's teams from across the country will participate in this year's 2019 Cruzin' Classic 

Saturday, Dec. 21 - 2 pm EST - Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - WATCH
Wartburg Knights (3-7, 0-3 A-R-C) vs. Concordia Wisconsin Falcons (4-3, 4-1 NACC)

Sunday, Dec. 22 - 12 pm EST - Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - WATCH
Wartburg Knights (3-7, 0-3 A-R-C) vs. SUNY New Paltz Hawks (3-4, 0-2 SUNYAC)

Concordia Wisconsin 
  • The Falcons have scored 541 points this season, averaging 77.3 points per game
  • Junior Jordan Johnson leads the team with 129 points and averages 18.4 per game
  • Sophomore Brandon Keller has tallied 90 points and averages 12.9 per game
  • Last time out the Falcons defeated conference opponent Marian 81-57

SUNY New Paltz
  • The Hawks have scored 534 points this season with an average of 76.3 per game
  • Freshman RJ Meyers-Turner leads the team with 102 points and averages 14.6 per game
  • Junior Jake Passaretti has notched 91 points, averaging 13.0 per game and leads the team with 13 steals 
  • Last time out the Hawks had a 67-61 victory hosting St. Joseph's -Brooklyn 

Wartburg
  • The Knights have notched 741 points this season with an average of 74.1 per game
  • Junior Max Smith Drahos leads the Orange and Black with 138 points, 38 assists and 15 steals
  • Freshman Jack Molstead has recorded 94 points and has 28 rebounds and 21 assists 
  • Senior Jacob Kuhlemeier leads the team with 45 rebounds and has scored 64 points and contributed six assists 

Last Time Out

The Knights hosted No.6-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Dec. 14 where the team fell 85-69. After a strong start by the Prairie Wolves leading 48-32 at the half, Wartburg fought back in the second half, with each team notching 37 points, but the Orange and Black was unable to secure a win. Max Smith Drahos and Camry Moore each scored 11 points for the Knights, followed by Tyler Zumbach who tallied 10 points. 26 points scored were off the bench. Wartburg was 24-of-61 in field goal shooting and 13-18 at the free throw line.
