FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Wartburg men's basketball team took an 83-73 victory over the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons during its first matchup in the Cruzin' Classic, the team's first win after losing seven straight games.
Starting off the game, the teams were back-and-forth scoring points, with both the Knights and Falcons ending the half with 42 points.
After Concordia University took a five point lead right away, the Orange and Black came back to tie up the game 9-9Â with a shot by
Tyler Zumbach at the 16:53 minute mark.
The Orange and Black had a four point lead with just under three minutes in the half, when the Falcons came back and tied up the game before the teams headed to the locker rooms.
The teams were neck-in-neck at the start of the second half, when a layup at the 14:15 minute mark by
Jacob Kuhlemeier gave the Knights a lead for the remainder of the game. A set of good free throws by
Jack Molstead in the final seconds secured Wartburg's 83-73 win.
Broden Coulter led the Orange and Black with 22 points and contributed one block.
Ryan Stulken notched 16 points for Wartburg and had five assists. Six other Knights scored with 32 points coming from the bench.
The team was 10-of-23 at the arc and 17-23 at the free throw line.Â
Next up, the Knights will play SUNY New Paltz in the Cruzin' Classic on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 12 pm EST.Â
