WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg women's soccer team advances to a 6-0 record, the best starting record since 2004 when the Knights opened the season with eight-straight wins.
Gabby Rohrer,
Hazkhett Zeledon Pena, and
Annie Place each scored their first goals of the, followed by the fourth tally from
Joy Smith - her fifth of the year.
Rohrer opened the scoring at the 32 minute mark, followed by Zeledon's first career goals five minutes later to give the Knights a 2-0 lead at the half.
Place scored her first goal of the season off a penalty kick eights minutes into the second half, followed by Smith's goal soon after. Wartburg outshot Gustavus 9-1, with
Marissa Lopez recording her first shutout of the year.
The Knights have tallied 22 goals in six games. Wartburg will head to La Crosse, Wis. to play UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
