PELLA, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team moved its overall record to 9-6 on the season after opening competition at the Central Invite Friday evening with a 3-1 win over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and a five-set loss versus Bethel University.
Wartburg 3, UW-River Falls 1
The Knights and Falcons traded a pair of 25-21 set victories to knot the score at 1-1 after the first two sets prior to Wartburg taking sets three and four to seal the win.
Wartburg totaled a season-high 16 blocks, led by
Kylie Bildstein with seven.
Jayme Willemssen led the Knights attack with 15 kills.
Claire Marsh added 24 assists while
Katie Foster notched 27 digs.
Bethel 3, Wartburg 2
After dropping the first set, the Knights bounced back to take a 2-1 lead with 25-22 and 25-20 victories in sets two and three. However, Bethel edged out Wartburg in the final two frames to come away with the five-set triumph.
The Orange and Black recorded a season-high 103 digs and tied a season-high with 58 kills. Foster led with 34 digs, three shy of a season-high, while Willemssen tallied a career-high 19 kills.
