STEVENS POINT, Wis. - A pair of second half goals granted the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point a 2-1 victory over the No. 22-ranked Wartburg women's soccer team Saturday, Sept. 21 as the Knights suffered their first loss of the 2019 season.
Kate Luers tallied her conference-leading ninth goal of the season 36 minutes into the match to give Wartburg a 1-0 advantage at the half. The Knights led 4-3 in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks throughout the first 45 minutes.
The Pointers answered in the second half, racking up eight corner kick chances compared to zero for the Knights while the shot total was even 8-8. UWSP tied the game at the 64th minute and then scored the game-winner with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation to secure the 2-1 victory. Kati Frierdich scored both goals for the home team.
