LINCOLN, Neb.- The Wartburg men's basketball team suffered a 95-64 loss to No. 10-ranked conference rival Nebraska Wesleyan.
After trailing the Timber Wolves by eight points, junior
Max Smith Drahos connected a three at the 18:22 minute mark to put the Knights on the board.
Nebraska Wesleyan took a 22 point lead with just under two minutes in the half. Smith DrahosĀ made a jump shot in the final minute to end the half with a 50-30 score.Ā
With 13:19 left in the game, senior
Tyler ZumbachĀ connected a layup to bring the game within 19 points, but the Timber Wolves continued to break away.
Ā Zumbach led the Orange and Black as the only player to score in the double digits with 15 points. Nine other Knights scored with 27 points coming from the bench. Wartburg was 26-of-70 in field goal shooting and was 4-6 at the free throw line.
The team had a total 37 rebounds, seven steals and four blocks.Ā
The Knights, now 7-11 overall and 3-6 in conference, will be back in LevickĀ to host American Rivers Conference opponent Coe College on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
