Women's Tennis Concludes Fall Season With Victory

WATERLOO, Iowa - Wartburg women's tennis defeated Loras College 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at Byrnes Park to finish its fall season with a 10-1 record and secured the second seed and a first-round bye in the American Rivers Conference automatic qualifying tournament in the spring. The Knights have now recorded victories in 15 of their last 16 contests against Loras dating back to the 2007-08 campaign. 

The Knights earned a 2-1 advantage after doubles before rattling off three victories in the singles matches. The duo of Olivia Phillips and Sydney Rottinghaus continued to roll in the doubles competition when they captured their team-high seventh win together. The pair also picked up victories in singles play at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Junior Madison Overmann recorded her fourth tally at the No. 1 singles position during the contest. Wartburg finished the fall season with an overall tally of 46-17 in singles play and 23-8 in doubles.

Wartburg will now switch its focus onto the spring season that is still to be determined and will be released on a later date.
