AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Wartburg baseball team won its third consecutive of its spring trip on Thursday afternoon, earning a 4-2 win over King's College.
Despite King's College out-hitting the Knights 12-9, Wartburg's two-run second inning and a
Manny Jeffery sacrifice fly in the eighth inning made the difference.
Through the fourth inning, the Knights gained a 3-0 lead, scoring a pair in the second off an error and wild pitch, following by a
Ben DeKruyf RBI single in the fourth.
Ben Milewski started on the mound for the Orange & Black, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Joey Ciero and
Trevor Hurd relieved, limiting the opponent to a pair of runs off eight hits. Hurd pitched the final four frames to earn the win.
Tyler Nunemaker went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, along with a two-hit game from
Ethan Hayes.
