Men's Soccer Set for A-R-C Match at Salzwedel Field

WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer is in action at Salzwedel Field on Tuesday, Oct. 12 when they face Buena Vista University in an American Rivers Conference matchup slated for 7:30 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Knights last contest came on Saturday, Oct. 9 in Indianola, Iowa when Wartburg defeated Simpson College 5-0. The Orange & Black got off to a hot start with four goals in the first half. Anzuruni Kimba had the first goal of the game and his first of the season, which came in the 11th minute off an assist from Paul Devine. Edvin Rizvic and Nadim Gomez also scored in the first half. Rizvic's goal was assisted by Jack Palen and Caleb Halleran, while Gomez's goal came off an assist from Mason Lucas. Palen added one goal in the first and the only goal of the second. Patrick McMahon got the start in goal and recorded five saves in the shutout victory.
 
Offensively, the Knights are led by Palen, who has scored five goals in the last two games. On the season, Palen has 10 goals and two assists for a total of 22 points. In goal for the Orange & Black, McMahon has started the last five matches and, in those matches, recorded 18 saves with a save percentage of 78.3%.
 
Buena Vista
Buena Vista enters the contest with a 2-7-2 overall record and a 0-2-1 ledger in A-R-C play. The last time on the pitch was Saturday, Oct. 9 where they were defeated 3-2 by Finlandia University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
 
The Beavers are led offensively by Braedan Evans and Brody Steinfeldt. Evans has five goals for a total of 10 points and Steinfeldt has three goals with two assists for a total of eight points this season. In goal for Buena Vista, Isaiah Thomas has started eight games and recorded 28 saves with a save percentage of 53.8%.
 
The Knights have won 18 straight matches against the Beavers dating back to the 2004 season. The all-time series between the schools is 21-4 in favor of Wartburg.
