ROCK ISLAND, Ill.—Behind a top-10 finish from Riley Mayer, the No. 2 Wartburg Knights women's cross country squad took home second place honors at the Augustana Invitational.
 
Mayer, who placed sixth overall, crossed the finish line at just over 22 minutes. Trinity Borland was the next Knight across the line, followed by Carina Collet in the top-15. Natalie Paulson, Aubrie Fisher, and Shaelyn Hostager found spots in the top-25 on the women's side. Alexis Brown and Ellie Meyer also placed for the Knights.
 
The Open Invite saw runner-up honors for Jane Pinkowski of the Knights, as the Orange & Black placed third in the race. Ashley Bloomquist, Emily Richter, Brielle Ruch, and Erin Phelan placed inside the top-25 for the Knights.
 
The Knights return to action on Oct. 30 as they compete at the American Rivers Conference Championships.
