PELLA, Iowa – No. 16 women's soccer (12-1-1, 5-0 A-R-C) extended its current win streak to six games and stays unbeaten in A-R-C play after a 2-0 win over Central College on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Wartburg spent a majority of the first half in attacking territory and got a goal early in the 9
th minute.
Sarah Campbell fired a shot past the keeper to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The score marks goals in back-to-back games for Campbell and is her fourth of the season.
The Knights lead 1-0 at the break.
The second half was more balanced, but the Knights kept up the attack. The Orange & Black's defense played aggressive and made it tough to get off shots for the Dutch. Wartburg had an advantage in total shots 21-5 and in shots on goal nine to three.
Kate Luers added her seventh goal in the 85th minute to push the lead to 2-0.
Marissa Lopez started and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Knights. Lopez recorded a save on all three of Central's shots on goal in the shutout victory.
Next Time Out
The Knights are in action next on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. against No. 11 Loras College at Salzwedel Field for the last home match of the regular season.
