Knights Football Hands Dubuque First Conference Loss

WAVERLY—A big second quarter from the Wartburg Knights helped the Knights to defend Walston-Hoover Stadium on a chilly fall day. 
 
The Knights (5-2, 4-1) handed the University of Dubuque Spartans (5-2, 4-1) their first conference loss, 27-7.
 
Scoring Plays
 
  • Dylan Rottinghaus caught a 15-yard pass from Jace Moore as the Knights scored first in the game. Rottinghaus scored with 11:11 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Hunter Clasen scored the Knights second touchdown of the day, rushing the ball six yards with 4:30 left in the first half.
  • Drew Wyffels intercepted the ball at the Wartburg 4-yard line, returning the ball 96-yards for a touchdown as time ran out in the first half.
  • The Spartans recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter, returning the ball for 38-yards for the Spartans only touchdown of the day.
  • Bennett Goettsch rushed 1-yard for the final touchdown of the game, with 13 seconds remaining on the clock as the Knights defended Walston-Hoover Stadium.
