Indianola, Iowa – Wartburg men's soccer earned a convincing 5-0 shutout over Simpson College on Saturday, Oct. 9 to move to 5-4-2 overall and 2-1 in American Rivers Conference play.
The first goal of the game came when
Paul Devine found
Anzuruni Kimba who beat the keeper to make the game 1-0 in the 11
th minute. The second goal came in the 12
th minute after
Edvin Rizvic netted a goal off a
Caleb Halleran assist. The third goal came just a minute later when
Jack Palen scored his ninth goal of the season coming from an assist from Chris Christofferson.
The Orange & Black would score another goal in the 44
th minute when
Nadim Gomez scored his second goal of the season, this one off an assist from
Mason Lucas.
The Knights took a 4-0 lead into half.
Palen would score again to start the second half in the 49
th minute, this time unassisted, to make it a 5-0 game. The goal is Palen's 10
th of the season.
Patrick McMahon started in goal for the Knights and played all 90 minutes in the shutout victory. McMahon had five saves in the match to bring his total to 18 on the season.

The Orange & Black are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Salzwedel Field for a A-R-C match against Buena Vista University.
