Football Dominates on Senior Day

WAVERLY, Iowa—Protecting Walston-Hoover Stadium and moving to 6-3 and 5-2 in A-R-C action, the Wartburg Knights defeated the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves 50-14 this afternoon.
 
The Knights took a 28-7 lead at the break, before adding 22 points in the second half to celebrate Senior Day.
 
The Knights have a 12-game winning streak, when playing inside Walston-Hoover Stadium.
 
Scoring Plays
 
  • Jace Moore connected with Braydin Farrell on an 11-yard pass for the Knights first touchdown of the day with 11:25 in the first quarter.
  • Moore found the endzone with 4:31 remaining in the quarter on a 6-yard rush.
  • Hunter Clasen scored 19 seconds into the second quarter, on a 21-yard run.
  • Moore threw a 28-yard pass to Drake George as the Knights went on 28-0 with 3:20 remaining in the first half.
  • The Prairie Wolves' Carter Terry connected with David O'Connell on a 4-yard pass with 20 seconds remaining in the first half for the Prairie Wolves first touchdown of the afternoon.
  • Clasen found the endzone for the Knights with 8:48 remaining in the third quarter on a 35-yard run.
  • Terry and O'Connell connected with eight seconds remaining in the third quarter on an 11-yard pass for the second Prairie Wolves touchdown.
  • Ethan Lape rushed for 1-yard with 14:14 remaining in the game, after the Knights got stopped at the 1-yard line of Nebraska Wesleyan.
  • Kain Eagle added a 27-yard field goal with 11:02 remaining as the Knights went up 43-14.
  • BJ White got in on the scoring action as the senior quarterback from Cedar Rapids had a 1-yard run with 4:03 remaining in the game.

  • The Knights recorded 474 total yards of offense, with 290 rushing yards. The Knights best rushing game happened against Luther, where the Knights rushed for 295 yards.
  • The Knights recorded five rushing touchdowns, averaging 6.7 yards/rush.
  • In the air, the Knights averaged 8.8 yards/attempt, throwing for 184 yards and two passing touchdowns.
  • At quarterback, Moore was 9-of-16 for pass completions, with both touchdowns and one sack.
  • Clasen led the Knights in rushing yards, with 96 yards and two touchdowns. Clasen averaged 16 yards/rush.
  • Thomas Butters led the Knights in receptions, catching the ball 2 for 46 total yards.
  • Eight Knights recorded sacks in the game, as the Knights sacked the Prairie Wolves five times.
  • Four Knights recorded tackles for loss, while the Knights added two interceptions and two pass breakups in the contest.
  • The Knights defense had 58 stops in the contest.
  • Eagle was 5-of-7 for point after attempts and made the only field goal attempt in the game.
 
Next Time Out
 
The Knights close out the 2021 campaign, traveling to Simpson College on Nov. 13. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa.
