LA CROSSE, Wis. - Wartburg women's lacrosse matched up against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, March 13 and suffered a 20-10 defeat. Junior
Bri Greiskalns led the Knights with four goals and one assist.Â
The Orange & Black (0-3, 0-0 MWL) will continue nonconference play when they travel to River Forest, Ill. on Sunday, March 21 for a contest against Concordia University Chicago (4-0, 0-0 NACC) at 3:30 p.m.Â
The Knights found themselves in a 5-1 hole after the first five minutes of play but battled back into the contest with three unanswered tallies. Goals by
Lindsay Langford and Greiskalns down the stretch of the first half brought the Wartburg deficit down to three heading into the break.Â
Wartburg made it a two-goal contest early in the second half but UW-La Crosse exploded out on a five-goal run to take a convincing lead. The Oakdale, Minn. native Greiskalns stopped the bleeding with her fourth tally of the match. The Eagles then duplicated their scoring run before the Papillion, Neb. native Langford scored the last goal of the contest to secure her hat trick.Â
With one assist in today's game, Greiskalns is now tied for the most assists in school history with 28. Wartburg tallied 24 shots with 16 on goal and recorded a season-high 10 tallies. The Knights scooped up 19 ground balls, held an 18-13 advantage in draw controls and were 13-of-31 in clear attempts. Goalkeeper

The contest marked the first time the two programs have met in the six year history of Wartburg women's lacrosse.Â
