WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg women's tennis tallied its second consecutive victory on Monday, March 22 when it upended Upper Iowa University by a score of 5-4. The Knights now hold a 31-8 all-time series lead against the division two opponent.Â
The Orange & Black (13-3, 7-1 A-R-C) will return to action on Saturday, March 27 when they battle the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Gustavus Adolphus College away from home.Â
Wartburg jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after doubles when it came away with victories at the No. 1 and three positions. The pair of
Madison Overmann and
Olivia Phillips improved to 4-0 while
Georgia Nissen and
Rebekah Corson also remained undefeated with a 3-0 record.Â
The Knights dropped matches at the one through three spots in singles play but secured wins in the bottom half to secure the victory. Freshman Nissen and senior Corson pushed their season win total over .500 when they downed their opponents at the No. 4 and five positions. Freshman
Bailey VanDusseldorp improved to 6-1 on the year in singles with a win at the six spot. As a team, Wartburg is 59-33 in singles and 32-13 in doubles.Â
