OWATONNA, Minn. - Wartburg women's tennis finished its weekend road trip when it defeated Hamline University 6-3 in Owatonna on Saturday, March 6 and secured its first win of the spring season. The contest marked just the second time the two programs have met.Â
The Orange & Black (11-2, 7-1 A-R-C) will head back on the road next weekend when they face off against Saint Mary's University (1-1, 0-1 MIAC) in Winona, Minn. at 12:30 p.m.Â
The Knights took a commanding lead when they won all three doubles matches, headlined by
Madison Overmann's and
Olivia Phillips' victory at the No. 1 position. Wartburg then went on to win three out of the six singles matches. Overmann and Phillips defeated their opponents in straight sets at the No. 1 and two spots. After dropping the first set, senior
Sydney Powers rallied to win the next two and clinched the Wartburg victory.Â
