WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg College women's soccer team improved its record to 4-0 on the season with a 1-0 shutout over Simpson College during the 2021 spring season home opener at Salzwedel Field.

Sarah Campbell of Waverly scored the game-winner at the 25th minute of the first half, scoring her first of the season on a shot from deep on the right side the carried over the reach of the Simpson netminder.
The Knights did not allow a shot from the Storm in the first 45 minutes, heading into the break with the 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Simpson tallied four shots and created a pair of corner kick chances, but the Wartburg defense held strong for its fourth consecutive shutout.
Marissa Lopez made one save in goal to improve to 4-0 on the year.
Wartburg out shot the Storm 17-4 and held a 8-3 lead in corner kicks.
Katie Berglund led the offense with five shots, while
Kate Luers and
Emily Fontana notched three shots each.
Up next, Wartburg has a road match at Loras College on Tuesday, April 13. The contest is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in Dubuque, Iowa.
