CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Wartburg College men's soccer team prevailed 2-1 at Coe College Saturday evening, scoring the game-winner at the 86th minute for the road win.
Jack Palen, a senior native of Norwalk, scored the Knights' game-winner at 86:47, assisted by
Payton Chapman - his second assists of the game.
Wartburg improves its American Rivers Conference record to 2-1 overall, outshooting the Kohawks 19-1.
The Knights out shot Coe 11-0 in the first half and had six corner kick opportunities, but Coe's defense held strong the kept the score at 0-0 heading into the break.
Wartburg broke through 12 minutes into the second period with
Curtis Ratzer's first career goal, assisted by Chapman.Â
Late in the game, Coe tied the match at the 84 minute mark, but Palen and the Knights responded quickly with the game-winning goal.
Palen and Chapman each tallied two shots on goal, while
Caleb Halleran led the Knights with five shots.Â
The Knights up next host Simpson College Saturday, April 10 for the 2021 home opener starting at 7:30 p.m. from Salzwedel Field.
