DECORAH, Iowa - Wartburg women's tennis defeated Simpson College 5-1 in the semifinals of the American Rivers Conference Automatic Qualifying Tournament at the Luther College Tennis Courts in Decorah, Iowa. The Knights will take on Luther in the championship match tomorrow, May 1 at 1 p.m.Â
The Orange & Black swept the doubles competition with ease and took a 3-0 lead into singles play. Needing just two wins, the Knights got off on the right foot with a victory from freshman
Georgia Nissen at the No. 6 position. Wartburg then dropped its first match of the evening at the No. 2 spot. Senior
Sydney Rottinghaus then clinched the semifinal victory with her win at the No. 3 position.Â
The Knights will matchup against the Norse for the second time this season as they fell to Luther 8-1 back on Oct. 10. Wartburg will look for its first tournament championship tomorrow and its first automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.Â
