Gustavus Defeats No. 15 Wartburg, 27-18

ST. PETER, Mn—In a early season match, the Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus defeated the #15 Wartburg College Knights, 27-18.

This is the first time in series history that Gustavus has defeated Wartburg, with the last meeting coming in 2011. Wartburg had won the first two meetings. 
 
Scoring Plays
  • The Golden Gusties struck first as Jake Breitbach connected with Michael Veldman on a 13-yard pass for a touchdown.
  • Kain Eagle put the Knights on the board in the second quarter with a made field goal.
  • JoJo McNair caught a 9-yard pass from Jace Moore as the Knights took a 10-7 lead at the break.
  • Gustavus added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter as the Golden Gusties took a late 21-10 lead.
  • Moore and McNair connected for the Knights second touchdown of the day, while Ben Bryant helped to convert a 2-point play as the Knights trailed by a field goal in the fourth quarter.
