LA CROSSE, Wis. – Wartburg women's soccer move to 4-0-1 to remain undefeated Sunday, Sept. 12 after a 0-0 draw with the Dominican University Stars (Ill.)
Regulation saw 30 total shots, but none found the net for either team. The Stars led in shots 17-13 through the first 90 minutes and Wartburg had a slight edge in corner kicks 6-5. The game would finish tied in shots on goal with nine a piece.
The Knights would dominate possession in both over times outshooting the Stars 4-1 in the first overtime and 3-0 in the second. Two of the shots in the second overtime were on goal, but both were saved by the Stars goalkeeper.
In goal for the Orange & Black,
Marissa Lopez played the full game and recorded nine saves to help keep the Stars scoreless.
Sarah Campbell led the Knights offensively with 4 shots, two of them being shots on goal.
Joy Smith and
Kate Luers also had one shot on goal each for the Orange & Black.
