Men's Soccer Slated for Regional Road Test

WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer is in action Tuesday, Sept. 28 in Platteville, Wis. for a non-conference match against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville set for 7:30 p.m kickoff.

Last Time Out
The Knights are coming off a tough conference battle with the University of Dubuque Saturday, Sept. 25. Jack Palen was able to convert on two penalty kick opportunities, but Dubuque was able to out-score Wartburg in the second half giving the Spartans a 3-2 win. The Orange & Black showed a gritty performance in the second half playing at a one-man disadvantage caused by an ejection before half.
 
Palen has led the Knights offensively this season with four goals and eight shots on goal. Patrick McMahon started his first match in his career for the Knights in goal Saturday and recorded five saves.
 
UW-Platteville
The Pioneers come into this contest winners of five of their last six. Most recently, UW-Platteville faced Dubuque and defeated them on the road 2-1 Wednesday, Sept. 22. In the last five matchups between UW-Platteville and Wartburg, the Pioneers have won twice and three times the result was a draw.
 
UW-Platteville is led offensively by two players, Jack Gentilli and Matt Walter. Gentilli has started the season with four goals and five assists totaling 13 points and Walter has scored three goals and added two assists for eight total points.
