ST. PAUL, Minn. – Wartburg lacrosse fell 5-4 to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in a low-scoring Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference contest. The Knights are now 3-10 overall and fall to 1-2 in conference play.
Game Summary
Mallory Thys got on the scoreboard first for the Knights with her second goal of the season. After an NWU goal,
Beka Gershenoff made the score 2-1 after finding the net with just under five to play in the first period.
The Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 4-2 lead.
Britta Solheim stopped the run with a goal assisted by Gershenoff. The Knights trailed 4-3 heading into halftime.
Gershenoff scored her second goal of the game in the third quarter, which ended up being the only goal of the period to make the score 4-4 heading to the fourth.
Ava Whitcomb completed her hat trick with just under five minutes to play in the fourth to break the tie and give the Eagles a 5-4 lead. The Orange & Black were unable to convert late on scoring opportunities late and UNW held on for a 5-4 win.
Game Leaders
Gershenoff led the Wartburg offense with three total points from two goals and one assist. The sophomore now has six goals and two assists on the season.
Bri Greiskalns picked up a team-high eight groundballs and caused a team-high five turnovers. The fifth-year senior also led the Knights in draw controls with four. She now has 34 caused turnovers and 85 draw controls this season
Alyson Hanser played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded 11 saves in the loss. The freshman also grabbed four ground balls.

The Knights are back at home for MWLC play against Cornell College on Wednesday, Apr. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
