Women's Soccer Adds Lauren Johnson as Assistant

WAVERLY, Iowa Lauren Johnson has been named as an assistant under new head coach Emily Ryan to the women's soccer staff, as announced today.
 
"I'd like to thank Coach Ryan and Coach Schara, as well as the Wartburg athletic department for the opportunity." said Johnson. "I am very excited to join Wartburg women's soccer and contribute to the competitive and successful program."
 
The Gustavus Adolphus graduate began her coaching career in 2018 as an assistant youth coach for the Eagan Wave Soccer Club and served as a youth coach for both the MN Foot Tech and Gustavus IN2 soccer camps in Minnesota. Johnson has head coaching experience for the U9 Mahtomedi Soccer Association as well the ninth-grade team at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minn. She also holds a Grassroots 11v11 Coaching license through U.S. Soccer.
 
Johnson was a four-year member of the Gustavus soccer program and graduated with a bachelor's degree in management. In her athletic career, she was named an All-Conference honorable mention twice by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) as well as team MVP for two seasons. She was also a starter for the Fire 98 SC WPSL semi-professional team during the 2019 season.
 
Johnson begins her duties on August 1.
