No. 14 Knights split Tuesday’s contests

WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—The No. 14 Wartburg softball team split its games Tuesday. The Knights fell 5-1 to MSOE and shutout Calvin 5-0.

MSOE
  • The game was scoreless until the third inning when the Raiders had a two-run single.
  • MSOE added three more in the sixth extend the lead to 5-0
  • The Knights ended the no-hitter in the fifth on a single from Reegan Deputy
  • The Orange and Black tallied their lone run in the seventh on a bases loaded walk
  • Wartburg had bases loaded with one out. The next batter struck out and the next batter hit into a fielder's choice for the third out on the runner
  • Sydney Illg went 2-3
  • Ashley Nelson pitched 5.0 innings and struck out three
Calvin
  • The Knights took the early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single from Sydney Fellows
  • Wartburg plated another in the second on an RBI single from Illg
  • In the fourth, Kaylee Springer drove in Deputy on her single to center field and Springer later scored on Ella Link's RBI single to center to extend the lead to 4-0
  • The Orange and Black plated the final run in the fifth as Lauren Frerichs scored on the suicide squeeze
  • Deputy went 2-2 with two runs and an RBI
  • Fellows was 2-3 with an RBI
  • Tarah Wehde earned the win in relief and fanned four

The Knights are of from competition until Thursday when they face Alma in a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. ET.
