Luther Tops Wartburg 11-6

WAVERLY, Iowa – Baseball closed its season series against Luther College with an 11-6 loss at home that gave the Norse a regular season series sweep. Wartburg is now 8-13 overall and 3-9 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • Luther jumped on Wartburg with a four-run top of the first inning capped off by a two-run homer to center field
  • The Norse continued the attack in the third inning with another four runs scored, including three runners walked in
  • Wartburg got one run back in the bottom of the third when Keaton Gray singled up the middle to score Carter Stubitz, who led the inning off with a single
  • Malcolm Newell got a 1-2-3 inning in relief on the mound in the fourth inning
    • Zach Wesolowski saved an extra-base hit with a diving play in left-center field
  • Wartburg scored another run on a wild pitch and then an RBI single from Stubitz made the score 8-3 Luther after four innings
