DUBUQUE, Iowa – Baseball wrapped up its regular season series against the University of Dubuque with a 7-4 loss in game one and a 15-3 loss in game two of today's doubleheader on Sunday, Apr. 23. The Knights move to 10-17 overall and 5-13 in American Rivers Conference play.
Game Summary
- Game One
- The Spartans struck first with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, led by a bases loaded triple
- After a Caleb Andrews single in the first inning, the Knights were held hitless through four innings
- Dubuque added two runs to its lead in the fourth inning after a runner scored on a fielders choice as well as an error to make the game 6-0
- The Kniights scored two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-2
- UD tacked another run on in the bottom of the fifth to go up 7-2
- In the seventh inning, Wartburg scored two more runs after Gray doubled to put him and Will Armstrong in scoring position and were later brought home by Andrews and Zach Walton

- Wartburg loaded the bases in the top of the eighth, but UD was able to escape the jam with no runs allowed

- Caleb Andrews gave Wartburg an early lead with a solo homerun in the top of the first
- Dubuque responded with two runs in the bottom of the first after two walks and two singles that made the score 2-1
- UD's offense exploded for a five-run bottom of the third to take a 7-1 lead
- Wartburg was unable to bring any runs across in the fourth or fifth, while the Spartans added a run in the fourth and then five in the fifth nning to make the score 13-1 through five innings
- An Eliot Jurgensen double scored one run for Wartburg in the sixth and then an RBI single from Wesolowski in the seventh made it 15-3
- Dubuque won 15-3 in seven innings
