Knights Defeat Central 6-2 at Home

WAVERLY, Iowa – Baseball took game one of the series 6-2 over Central College on Friday, Apr. 28 at Harms Stadium at Hertel FIeld. The Knights were led by three batters with three or more hits today and move to 11-17 overall and 6-13 in A-R-C play.
 
Game Summary
  • Cael Boehmer had three strikeouts and no hits allowed through the first two innings and the score stayed at 0-0
  • Zach Walton drove in the first run of the game with a deep double to left-center field that scored Caleb Andrews from first
    • Knights led 1-0 through three innings
  • The Knights added to the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a no-doubt two-run homerun to right field from Carter Stubitz that made it 3-0 Wartburg through four innings
  • Wartburg loaded the bases in the fifth inning and scored one run when Andrews advanced on a wild pitch
    • Knights led 4-0 through five innings
  • Boehmer hit a batter in a bases loaded jam, but limited to damage to just one run and the Dutch cut the lead to 4-1
  • Wartburg got the run back in the bottom of the seventh when Sam Nicolino hit a sacrifice fly to score Walton and bring the score to 5-1
  • Walton added another run in the eighth when he singled to score Andrews and make the score 6-1 through eight innings
  • Central rallied for one run, but couldn't come back and fell 6-2
