WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg women's lacrosse was back at home this evening, where they were defeated 17-4 in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse matchup against the College of Saint Benedict. The Knights are now 2-8 overall and 1-2 in MWLC play.
Game Summary
- First Period
- The Bennies jumped on the Knights right away with a goal in the first minute of play
- After almost five minutes of scoreless play, CSB added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead with 9:39 to play
- A few minutes later Britta Solheim got the Knights on the board with a goal to make it 3-1 after one period of play
- Second Period
- CSB scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second period to take a 5-1 lead
- The Bennies continued their run with four more goals before a goal from Beka Gershenoff stopped the run to make the score 9-2 with a minute and a half left in the first half
- CSB added two more goals before half and led 11-2 at the break
- Third Period
- Lindsay Langford started the scoring in the second half with a goal that brought the score to 11-3
- The Bennies scored two goals over the next eight minutes and led 13-3 with just over three minutes to play in the third
- Langford scored again unassisted to bring the Knights deficit down to 13-4 after three periods
- Fourth Period
- The Bennies shut Wartburg out in the fourth with two goals in the first five minutes and then two more in the final six minutes
