CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- The Wartburg softball team (22-16 overall) advanced to the American Rivers Conference Tournament Championship game with its 2-1 victory over top seed and No. 18 Coe (31-8) Saturday.

How it happened

• Coe took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI double down the left field line
• In the second, Tarah Wehde drove in the go-ahead run on her two-run double to left center to make it 2-1
• In the middle of the fourth inning, the game entered a three and a half hour rain and lightning delay
• Play resumed at 2:20 p.m.
• The Kohawks were unable to advance a baserunner past first base in the fifth and sixth innings
• In the bottom of the seventh, the leadoff batter hit a double to left.
• The next three batters were retired in order to end the threat and seal the win for the Knights

Top performers

• Wehde was 1-2 with two RBIs
• Ashley Nelson pitched her second-straight complete game 
• Nelson struck out three in the outing
