Women's Soccer Fall to UW-Eau Claire 1-0 on the Road

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Women's soccer (2-3-1) fell to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (4-1-1) 1-0 in a hard fought non-conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 16.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • The Blugolds recorded two shots in the first five minutes, with one being on goal that was saved by Alena Miller
    • A few minutes after a Wartburg corner kick attempt, UW-Eau Claire put another shot on goal that was again saved by Miller
    • Wartburg applied some offensive pressure at the end of the half when Abigail Milburn put two shots on goal for the Knights that were both saved
    • Miller finished the half with three saves and Kennedy Boll recorded two saves for the Blugolds
  • Second Half
    • It was just two minutes into the second half when UW-Eau Claire scored on a deep shot that was just out of reach of the keeper
    • Lauren Kirkle had a shot on goal a minute later that was saved by the Blugolds
    • Each team had corner kick opportunities early in the half, but both were defended well resulting in no shots
    • Miller made back-to-back saves in the 63rd minute to keep the deficit at one
    • The Knights were unable to generate any goals and fell 1-0
