Men's Soccer Win 4-0 on Senior Day

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg men's soccer continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 4-0 Senior Day shutout over Coe College on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Knights are now 6-0-4 overall and move to 2-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • After multiple corner kicks to start the match, Wartburg got on the scoreboard first when Aidan Mott played a ball into the box that was deflected by Alima Mmunga and then finished by Landon Hartsell to put Wartburg up 1-0
    • Just three minutes later in the 14th minute, it was Mmunga's turn to score as he scored after an Aidan Mott shot on goal was saved and deflected to Mmunga
    • Each team traded shots on goal in the next 10 minutes, but both were saved
    • Coe defended Wartburg on two corner kicks in the final minutes of the half to keep the score 2-0 Wartburg
  • Second Half
    • Mott picked up right where he started in the first half, putting a corner kick in a perfect spot for Michael Dunn to head it past the keeper in the 49th minute
      • Wartburg 3-0
    • Wartburg continued to smother the Kohawks defensively throughout the second half
      • Knights defended back-to-back corner kicks in the 71st minute with zero shots on goal allowed
    • The Knights capped off the win with a goal from Itsuki Ebisawa to make it 4-0
