Men's Soccer Battle Macalester to a 1-1 Draw

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg men's soccer (3-0-1) battled Maclester College (2-0-2) to a 1-1 draw under the lights at Salzwedel Field on Friday, Sept. 8.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • The Knights wasted no time getting on the scoreboard after Paul Devine beat the keeper in the second minute off an assist from Alima Mmunga
    • The Scots answered with two shots on target, but both were saved by Brennon Woody
      • Woody finished with four saves in the first half
    • Late in the half it was Sam Price for Macalester that made a pair of saves to keep the score at 1-0 going into the half
  • Second Half
    • The Knights offense continued to attack in the second half, with two early corner kicks and two shots in the first eight minutes of the second half
    • Macalester tied the match in the 54th minute on a penalty kick that resulted from a foul in the box
      • Nick Kent scored the Scots goal
    • Edvin Rizvic shot a free kick at the top right corner, but Price made a great play to make the save
    • The Scots had a couple late corner and free kick opportunities that the Knights were able to hold off to keep the score locked at 1-1
