WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's basketball fell to Coe College (15-2, 6-2 A-R-C) 82-50 at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The Knights are now 3-14 overall and 2-6 in American Rivers Conference play.
Game Summary
- First Half
- Coe went ahead 4-0 early, but layups from Gabe Trujillo and Luke Ladwig tied the game three minutes into the game
- Minutes later, back-to-back Coe three pointers put the Kohawks ahead 18-8 with 13:37 to play in the first half
- The score reached 24-8 before a free throw from Marshun Williams and a layup from Carter Cuvelier made the score 24-11
- Williams made a three for the Knights, but Coe remained hot from deep and made three three pointers on its next four possessions
- Coe ended the half with four straight unanswered three points to go ahead 50-20 at the break
- Second Half
- Coe scored the first five points of the second half, but a Trujillo three ball got Wartburg on the board to make the score 55-23
- Richie Rosenblum connected on a three point shot to make the score 59-28 with 14:21 left to play
- Ladwig scored eight of the next nine points for the Knights with driving layups, free throw attempts and a three pointer
- Coe led 66-34 with nine minutes remaining
- Ladwig went on another scoring run with six straight points after another three ball and a three-point play
- Ladwig continued his run, scoring 13 out of 14 Wartburg points and making the score 70-42 with 7:17 remaining
- Allard and Williams both scored in the paint, but Coe continued to stretch the lead
- Abraham Cook scored three points late into the second half to make the score 78-49 with under three minutes left
- A Colin Bilotta free throw made the final score 82-50
